Partially inspired by the iconic image of "Rosie the Riveter" pulling up her sleeve, this image is an ode to the strength and leadership of women in building a just society. Added to the image are the words, "Si se puede" which have been made famous by the Obama presidential campaign and Cesar Chavez before him, but were first the words of Dolores Clara Fernández Huerta, the American labor leader and civil rights activist.

  • Who created the designs?

All designs were drawn by Deanna Irizarry and Rafael Fields. They are inspired by the images and iconography of Deanna's own Puerto Rican identity and experience.

    Where are the shirts printed?

All shirts are printed by Susi Art in Braintree, MA.

    Why $25?

The cost of production of each shirt is estimated at $10, including printing. Shipping costs are estimated to be about $5.  This leaves about $10 in profit, all of which will be donated.

    Where is the money going?

All proceeds will be donated directly to ConPRmetidos; an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization operating from San Juan, Puerto Rico since 2012. The organization has been working for the past five years to create a global network of diaspora leaders in key cities to create tailored connections between Puerto Ricans and friends of Puerto Rico to help Puerto Rico companies grow. Specifically, due to the recent catastrophic damages caused by Hurricane María, they are mobilizing their network’s efforts for the long-term relief of vulnerable communities in the island. The María: Puerto Rico Real-Time Recovery Fund was organized in partnership with Foundation for Puerto Rico, a 501(c)(3) corporation acting as our local fiscal sponsor. 100% of donations to the fund will be used exclusively to provide long-term relief to the victims of Hurricane María in Puerto Rico. The fund is making power the priority because the entire power grid in Puerto Rico is offline, communications are scarce and only a small percentage of the population has access to water service, but has three goals including Long-term structural repairs to the most vulnerable communities, and needs assessment efforts. For more information on the fund visit, http://www.conprmetidos.org/ and for live tracking of donations visit, https://www.generosity.com/emergencies-fundraising/maria-puerto-rico-real-time-recovery-fund.
